Our brine-cured, cooked Saddleback ham joint has been expertly prepared by our butchery team using traditional methods. Cut from the hind leg, the ham is really lean and easy to slice.

Its a great thing to have in the fridge at any time of the year and can be enjoyed for breakfast, in a sandwich, or with a salad for an easy evening meal.

Cooked Ham

Our cooked Saddleback ham joints are from rare-breed Saddleback and Gloucester Old Spot outdoor reared pigs that have taken longer to mature and carry the essential extra fat that produces really succulent, flavoursome meat.

You will find our free-range, hand-butchered pork will be a deeper pink in colour than the intensively reared alternatives and because our pigs have been raised naturally and hung for longer, the skin provides the most wonderful, crispy crackling. Our pork is sourced from small, local, family-run farms in Dorset and Wiltshire with the highest standards of animal welfare.

We believe strongly that small-scale farming is better for the farmer, the animal, the local ecology, and for you, producing exceptionally tasting, ethically reared meat that you can trust completely.

Thank you very much for our Dorset meat delivery. We ordered in advance and the parcel arrived exactly on the day requested, superbly wrapped with ice packs still frozen so the contents of meat, cheese and pate arrived in pristine condition.
We wove the delicious ingredients into our sons stay-at-home 21st birthday meal and they have been beautiful. The wood pigeons were delicious and the flat iron steaks tender and flavoursome. We are having the pork as a Sunday roast today. Other items we enjoyed were the cheeses and items such as the Chesil beach sea salt.
Thank you very much, we would highly recommend your company and food sources and we will definitely shop again.
My partner told me about your company and we bought our first meat box last month. We both commented we've never tasted beef that good ever before. The regular mince has the right amount of fat in it to give you that flavour and the steaks are beyond anything else we've ever had even in top restaurants. We are customers for life now, supermarkets don't offer anywhere near this quality and it's about on par with the higher shelf products in shops. Easy to order with very good delivery and nicely packed. The meat is so much tastier than super market meat. Our favourite is the pork and beef . We order an array of different meat and must say we enjoy it all.

Very much enjoyed this. I chose my own box of grass fed, farm fresh vac packed meats and I was not disappointed! My first ever 'meat box', so I was very happy with the quality and care taken. The contents were delicious. It's perhaps can seem slightly expensive, but not when you consider the quality of the meat that you are getting. I can't wait to order another box soon!
Produce and customer service are both exceptional. We no longer buy our fresh meat from the supermarket or butchers because it's simply not up to the job. We grew fed up of water pumped chicken breasts and beef that had no flavour. Every month we now order what we need and waste nothing. Highly recommend the roasting joints and whole chicken. Nick and Jane clearly love and care about their produce and it shows in the service we've had.

Our Farms

At the Dorset Meat Company, we work with 20 small, family-run farms in Dorset and Wiltshire that all work to produce ethically reared, nutritious meat, in a natural growing environment, in harmony with nature. Animals that have been allowed to grow at a natural pace and have not been rushed.

100% Grass Fed

Our ruminant animals enjoy a diet of 100%, pure, natural grass. Which is all they ever eat.

Our local countryside is rich in grassland. “Partly real, partly dream country” is how Thomas Hardy described Dorset. Over 40% of the county is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the steep ridges and chalk valleys lending the landscape a rugged beauty. Dotted around the Blackmore Vale, small farms raise traditional cattle breeds like Herefords, Aberdeen Angus and Ruby Reds. The areas of clay soil are rich in grass, wildflowers, clover and legumes, the principal food source for sheep and cattle for centuries. It is these natural environments, rich in essential vitamins and minerals, that help to support a wide range of wildlife and insects as an essential element of a vibrant, thriving ecology.
