Our sensational goat leg steaks are ideal for a midweek meal or outdoor cooking. Goat is very similar in taste to lamb, only a bit firmer in texture, high in protein and iron, and low in fat and cholesterol. Which is why it’s becoming increasingly popular in British kitchens and restaurants.
Our high welfare goat is hand-trimmed by our master butcher and comes from Richard Haskett who farms near Cheselbourne on the Dorset Downs.
Our goat leg steaks are truly outstanding. From locally reared adult herds that have been fed on hay and haylage throughout the year to produce a rich, full flavour, our high welfare, free-range goat is sourced from Richard Haskett who has been farming near Cheselbourne on the Dorset Downs for over 10 years.
Our naturally grown, free-range goat is hung on the bone for up to 7 days and has been hand-trimmed by our master butchers to provide lean meat with a deep, rich flavour. Grass-fed goat has a better ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6, is high in antioxidants such as vitamin E and contains higher vitamin and mineral levels. Eating meat from animals that themselves have only eaten a natural diet rich in essential vitamins and minerals and untainted by chemicals and pesticides, makes a whole lot of sense. It’s a healthy choice to make.

Over 40% of the county is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the steep ridges and chalk valleys lending the landscape a rugged beauty. Dotted around the Blackmore Vale, small farms raise traditional cattle breeds like Herefords, Aberdeen Angus and Ruby Reds. The areas of clay soil are rich in grass, wildflowers, clover and legumes, the principal food source for sheep and cattle for centuries. It is these natural environments, rich in essential vitamins and minerals, that help to support a wide range of wildlife and insects as an essential element of a vibrant, thriving ecology.
