Dorset Sea Salt, Natural (125g)
Handmade in Dorset.
The Dorset Sea Salt Company is the Jurassic Coast’s only natural sea salt producer. Every serving of the crisp, clean crystal-like sea salt is chemical free and harvested by hand from mineral rich seawater to provide the cleanest, purest, and freshest sea salt on the market with a distinct taste of Dorset.
Hand-harvested from the pristine mineral rich, and world-famous waters of the Jurassic coast. To be used within or to finish the cooking process, these briny flakes are bursting with an honest taste of Dorset.
This product works well on both sweet and savoury plates, from finely cut steaks to chocolate brownies. Our favourite use of pure Dorset sea salt flakes is to sprinkle them on warm bread, honey and peanut butter in the morning.
The Dorset Sea Salt Company was founded in 2017 by Jethro Tennant, an obsessed seasalt fanatic. After reading about the historic and cultural relevance of salt production in Dorset, and visiting the natural salt pans on the East Weares of Portland, Jethro pondered how and why this local industry had vanished. Inspired, Jethro began to formulate the revival of Dorset seasalt.
Mineral rich and super clean seawater is collected from the Jurassic Coast by hand in order to ensure the correct amount of salinity. The seawater is then passed through a triple filtering system designed to preserve all of its natural goodness. After producing a concentrated brine, the seasalt crystals form in gently heated pans and are then hand harvested. The last phase is to drain and dry the sea salt in closely monitored drying rooms.
The Dorset Sea Salt Company aims to marry both ancient and new production methods resulting in exceptional, hand harvested sea salt.
The Dorset Sea Salt Company is supported by the Prince’s Trust.
We founded the Dorset Meat Company to provide you with the finest grass-fed, outdoor-reared meat, produced sustainably and in harmony with nature. We care about traditional British farming which is why we work with 20 small, family-run farms based in Dorset and Wiltshire that produce really wholesome, natural meat. We believe strongly that small-scale farming is better for the farmer, the animal, the local ecology, and for you, producing exceptionally tasting, ethically reared meat that you can trust completely.
At the Dorset Meat Company, we work with 20 small, family-run farms in Dorset and Wiltshire that all work to produce ethically reared, nutritious meat, in a natural growing environment, in harmony with nature. Animals that have been allowed to grow at a natural pace and have not been rushed.
100% Grass Fed
Our ruminant animals enjoy a diet of 100%, pure, natural grass. Which is all they ever eat.
Our local countryside is rich in grassland. “Partly real, partly dream country” is how Thomas Hardy described Dorset. Over 40% of the county is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the steep ridges and chalk valleys lending the landscape a rugged beauty. Dotted around the Blackmore Vale, small farms raise traditional cattle breeds like Herefords, Aberdeen Angus and Ruby Reds. The areas of clay soil are rich in grass, wildflowers, clover and legumes, the principal food source for sheep and cattle for centuries. It is these natural environments, rich in essential vitamins and minerals, that help to support a wide range of wildlife and insects as an essential element of a vibrant, thriving ecology.
