A really rich, grass-fed beef oxtail stew that has been slow-cooked in red wine with carrot, celery, shallots, and bacon really makes the most of this economical cut of meat. Cooked really slowly, this traditional cut is making a well deserved comeback in British restaurants.

Our beef oxtail comes from beef reared on small, family-run farms in Dorset and Wiltshire and is 100% grass-fed which means they are high in Omega 3 and full of vitamins.

Our Farms

At the Dorset Meat Company, we work with 20 small, family-run farms in Dorset and Wiltshire that all work to produce ethically reared, nutritious meat, in a natural growing environment, in harmony with nature. Animals that have been allowed to grow at a natural pace and have not been rushed.

Grass-Fed Oxtail Meat

All our grass-fed beef oxtail is sourced from native breed cattle reared on small, family-run Dorset and Wiltshire farms that have been fed purely on lush, natural pastures. Grass-fed beef has a better ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6, is high in antioxidants such as vitamin E and contains higher vitamin and mineral levels. Eating meat from animals that themselves have only eaten a natural diet of grass, wildflowers, clovers and legumes, rich in essential vitamins and minerals and untainted by chemicals and pesticides, makes a whole lot of sense. It’s a healthy choice to make.

Our Red Rubys, Aberdeen Angus and Dexter breeds have been allowed to reach maturity at 30 to 36 months naturally, to produce beef that has outstanding depth of taste and texture with wonderful marbling. To lock in the great flavours you expect from high-end, grass-fed beef, our meat is dry-aged for at least 28 days and prepared using the finest traditions of British craft butchery.

We believe strongly that small-scale farming is better for the farmer, the animal, the local ecology, and for you, producing exceptionally tasting, ethically reared meat that you can trust completely.

The Dorset Meat Company

We have been purchasing our meat from The Dorset Meat Company for about a year. The quality including taste is what keeps us coming back. We moved recently and ended up back in the supermarket for a few weeks, a great reminder as to why we use The Dorset Meat Company. Our delivery arrived Friday and our steak last night was superb. Tonight we tried partridge for the first time, tasted fantastic, although my cooking skills need improving. Thank you Dorset Meat Company and farmers, two very happy customers.
After completely going off supermarket bought food we decided to try the Dorset Meat Company. We now get the most amazing meat delivered. I would try to compare it but you really can't it's just completely different and delicious. Try them you won't go back. Service and choice are great and quality is simply best I have ever bought. You won't regret switching.
Wow.....What an amazingly well run company. On the lookout for well bred, grass fed meat as we have decided, as a family to eat well, eat with a conscience but above all go back to basics with excellent quality food that is a pleasure to cook. From ordering online and having all my questions answered with regard to animal welfare, to helping me choose the best produce, this company is 5 *****..... Having Ox tail tomorrow, slow cooked, it will fill the house with a beautiful aroma, and of course will taste delish.
We have been looking for responsibly sourced meat for some time and have finally found the" real deal"at The Dorset Meat Company. Fantastic organic produce, delivered to my front door and the quality is outstanding. No shrinkage of chicken breasts after cooking, amazing smoked bacon and the cheeses from the deli section are spectacular. Also recommended us to Goldhill Organics for veg which again has been a revelation. Try it once and you like us will be converted. Great job.
Always enjoy the meat from The Dorset Meat Company. We are trying to cut back on meat consumption so I want to know we are going to get some quality meat. We ordered a wonderful piece of beef for Christmas Day. Slow cooked. It went down a treat at the table with 0 waste. Delicious. Still got my tasty sausages in the freezer.
