We are therefore thrilled to announce an exciting new range of sustainable, fresh fish sourced mainly from a group of trusted fishermen who run small day-boats based locally in Brixham, Weymouth and Poole and fish the proper way. Understanding the importance of diversity in a healthy diet, we have put together a selection of the finest fresh, sustainable fish, sourced with the same ethical standards you’ve come to expect from us. Our new range includes a variety of seafood to enrich your meals with high-quality protein, essential omega-3 fatty acids, and a host of vitamins and minerals.

Salmon: All our fresh farmed salmon fillets are from Scottish salmon farms in the Orkney, Faroe and Shetland Islands that feed their salmon with a wholesome diet carefully harvested from their natural environment. These islands are marked by sharp, steep cliffs that nestle in the middle of the North Atlantic boasting a cold, clean tide that keeps the surrounding waters in pristine condition. The farms follow production methods that prevent over-crowding and ensure the highest standards of environmental sustainability and animal welfare.

Cod: Our fresh cod fillets are very versatile and can be pan-fried or roasted, providing the base for a wide variety of recipes. We like ours simply cooked in butter with a dash of lemon, or baked with chorizo, butter beans, onions and chopped tomatoes.

We have ensured that our fresh fish is sustainable and responsibly caught by a trusted group of local fishermen who are based along the coast of Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, run small day-boats and fish in the proper way.

With the effects of overfishing impacting our seas, we believe that we should only eat fish that has been responsibly caught from fishing grounds that provide a sustainable marine environment. Which is why we do not buy any fish that has been beam trawled in order to ensure the seabed is protected.

Our fresh fish is rated as sustainable in line with the Marine Conservation Society’s Good Fish Guide, meaning that you can be assured that when you buy fresh fish online for delivery to your home, it’s from locations where stock is plentiful and caught using responsible, ethical fishing methods.

Mackerel: There is nothing quite like the wonderful simplicity of taking fresh mackerel fillets, sprinkling some olive oil or butter, and then grilling or barbecuing before finishing with lemon juice and pepper. Mackerel is an oily fish with a distinct flavour, high in Omega 3 and forms part of any balanced diet.

Trout: all our fresh fillets of trout high in Omega 3 are from ChalkStream in Romsey who work with small high welfare trout farms based on the idyllic Hampshire rivers Test and Ithchen. The local trout farms that run along the rivers and supply ChalkStream are built on the sites of old water mills where the races provide a huge volume of pure chalk stream water that allow the fish to grow in a constant current, mirroring their natural river environment. These trout are slow-grown for 2 years in custom designed, gravel bottomed tanks and raceways that create the cleanest possible growing conditions, producing trout that are fit and lean with a unique, clean taste.

Kippers: Kippers for breakfast, kippers for brunch! Simply grill for 8 to 10 minutes in butter and serve with lemon wedges and a knob of butter. We like ours with a couple of fried eggs and a thick slice of sourdough.A thing of beauty.

Haddock :Haddock is from the cod family so it is very similar in terms of flavour and texture and very versatile. Haddock is fantastic baked whole in its skin with olive oil and lemon, in a rich fish pie or simply fried to make fish and chips. :

Plaice, Plaice is a hugely popular flatfish that due to its lack of activity has a soft texture with a slightly sweet finish and lends itself incredibly well to any fish and chip supper. We love to simply bake ours in a little olive oil and butter finished with a delicate lemon and parsley butter, or with capers, prawns and dill.

Hake: Hake is a firm white fish very similar to cod. In high abundance off the South West coast that give it strong sustainability characteristics, hake is a great alternative to cod with a meaty texture when cooked making it an ideal choice for a fish stew with chorizo, butter bean, and clams or mussels. Our sustainably caught fresh brill is hand prepared by our fishmonger and comes pan-ready.

Brill: Brill is a stunning flat fish from the sole family and the cousin of turbot. Easy to cook, brill is firm in texture and slightly sweet-tasting capable of holding hold a strong lemon and caper dressing, or a rich lobster sauce. Or you can simply bake in the oven with olive oil and serve with a butter sauce.

Monkfish: Monkfish is often described as ‘poor man’s lobster’ due its firmness and meaty like texture, which is why it appears so frequently on British restaurant menus. Due to its thickness, our monkfish tails work incredibly well with sauces and marinades, and are ideally suited for fish curries, or even accompanied with pork and chorizo in a hearty fish stew.

We love to do our fresh, sustainable monkfish simply grilled with a light lemon sauce or beurre blanc, and a sprinkling of fresh parsley.
